I'm pretty sure that at one stage another hobby place in NSW was selling the Victor boats as well. I think it was Castle Hill Hobbies or something similar.
They might be worth a shot.

Well as you know when you start talking about links etc and all that "jazz" you have lost me! But if you have given anybody an undertaking for instance, etc I understand.
But there is something you should also consider, that we are all mates together , here. We in this case are sharing a similar boat (MM) and there are our other individual mates who we see only every now and again , that want to keep up with what we are doing in other areas of our R/C yachting?
I have a passing interest in this class (I bought a MM) Hairoil gets the fun of building it and I have registed it in his name. This is what mates do! Now he is chuffed. I on the other hand get to have a happy Pardner to sail with and to share the experience of building this boat together, with the aim of getting another one as well. We had a pleasant discussion today under a tree at the Lake about where we could sail a MM and HO thoughts were illuminating. We could sail them at Scarborough Park but, meaning, where else if needs be?
Since we did that a couple more people have mentioned to me that they are building them too. And I pre-suppose that they read what we(You & I) have been talking about. And Hey Mav, lets turn this into boats on the water.
#Victors Aussie11# Now We went out and sailed the victor Aussie 11 today. When I arrived at the Lake, Hairoil come up with his version called "Roo-barb" (I told you it was a vegetable??). It was painted in a blue colour and as you said it just took off from the launching wharf. It went up and down ,it beated, ran beautifully and tracked perfectly. Reccomend it to anyone.
However after building this boat there is a couple of things that don't sit well here. One is that I first ordered 2 boats and Hairoils got his on the water. Mine , however is still somewhere OUT THERE?? I've waited patiently 5 months there abouts and still no boat. Now the people who I ordered from have kept me informed but 5 months wait is too long and the wait is not acceptable, it will take years to get a fleet of 6 boats at this rate and we have to just say good bye to it for there are other boats in easy reach namely Micro Magics. I can get a boat (MM) of RYS in Brisbane in less than 24 hours (great service MAL).
So Maverick , how about it, how about a MM page? This is what I reckon.
Chuckle.... chuckle......, had to have a smile at your comment.
I must confess, I too have sometimes had a bit of difficulty navigating the MM site, but am getting used to it. Once I get to the page I want to start from, I go to whatever topic I want to and when finished I just click on my browser's "Back" button to take me back to my start page. Seems a bit easier than alternatives.
But you have a point. And if it means I guess, if people are not comfortable with the structure of the MM forum's, them I could create a forum topic for use by these folks, and others, rather than not have them contribute at all. But that would be on the understanding that I would be able to put links to these posts on the MM forum.
Whaddaya reckon?

Well , you know me Mav, If I can find the hardway around a website , I use it all the time. I must admit I have had probs getting around the Micro Magic site. But I think it is just me, on all those occasions.

Now , this would make an ideal boat for this pond as a sort of bringing R/C yachting to the masses. I have vissions of selling heaps of these boats.Literally thousands, we could sell of them and not try to hard either. This is the class that is going to sweep the world. Anyone who is remotely (squse the pun) interested in these little boats in Sydney give me a call.
I agree with the promotional aspects. They already sail in about 15 countries. The link in my previous post leads you to all sorts of great information.
I haven't put a specific Micro Magic (MM) Forum here because the link above is a central MM link for Australia and I reckon that basically, it is a good idea to post and visit there, so that information does not get fragmented. Hey, you might even find a few posts from me there, if you are lucky.
But if for whatever reason you still want to talk about them or other things here, the General Discussion Forum is highly recommended.

I'm just waiting for HO to finish the victor Aussie 11, so he can start on a Micro Magic. I got it Registed into his name this morning under the Ancient Mariners Club in Sydney. As I said , we saw one at our pond a couple of weeks ago and really like the way it went.
I know it is not one of your , um um um 12 metre boats but it is of some interest to young and old and perhaps a learner class of sorts. To lead one to a real boat like Victors Aussie 11??
Make sure you register it on the Australian Micro Magic site.

You know Mav how these builds go . I spoke to Hairoil this morning about Lil Aussie 11 and he has put the undercoat and one top coat and he doesn't like the top coat. The paint colour is9of all things) hammer beaten gun blue! Anyway it has all these little air bits in the paint (it is ment to be there) anyway he says he doesn't like it and wants something else . I recommended RED first up but HO is not that groovy and settled for blue. So the colour of the boat is up in the air at the moment.
I just slipped into him a suggestion that he might like to start on a Micro Magic soon.
Well , I went and had a look at the boat today . Hairoil has just put the deck on and he has put in the electrics . I noticed he had just bought a new 29 MHZ Futaba set and a Futaba arm winch to go in. I think he bought it off some hobbie shop in Alexandria in Sydney But if he went to Hstores he could have go all the electrics much cheaper. Still Hairoil lives near them.
He is going to paint the Victor Aussie 11 Gunmetal Blue.He went into this great Diatribe about air holes in the paint to match the real thing . I know he was bullsiting me but it passes the time. It looks good in that colour. I think he will name it 'Roo Barb', for he names most of his boats after vegetables???? This guy has some real quirky ways about him . Makes a nice change, I reckon.
I didn't check the rudder to see what he did with it (as I said , don't ask the question). Anyway he is chuffed about building the boat . The mast and booms are all done and he was putting on the sails that when I was leaving.
Henry wrote:The keel is fixed on now and the rudder is in but Hairoil put the rudder in back the front (don't ask).
Now we are trying to figure out what colour it should be and should it have a name on it??
Did he need to modify the hull to fit the rudder back to front? How on earth did he make it fit? Never mind, sounds like you guys are back on track again.
A boat's just gotta have a name. Otherwise it will have no soul, no character. And how would you like it if when you were born your parents did not give you a name? huh?

Yeah had a look at your construction radio board, not bad but I think we can do a little better. I don't like the idea of putting a hunk of Ali. in the area of the reciever! Although I like the pulleys on the end of the arms.
We ar putting a Futaba arm winch in (that I had on my EC12 as a rudder servo). It has a square shaped servo head. It a little more robust and needs a good home.
The keel is fixed on now and the rudder is in but Hairoil put the rudder in back the front (don't ask). Now nnot as critism but the A2 rudder on this model , while like a Nautic 12 type is not quite the same and should not have a curved leading edge, as it has. Still this is small biccies, indeed.
So the deck is on and the radio and stuff in place and working. Now we are trying to figure out what colour it should be and should it have a name on it??
Hairoil and I have just been given an invitation to show some of our wooden boats at the Sydney Wooden Boat show 8-9th march 08 at the Maritime Museum. I will show my Marbleheads , he will show his Hartely 16ft model.
Yeah, lead shot is gettting very hard to find as it's been banned for most forms of shooting. When I built AussieII I managed to get a bag of very fine lead shot from a gunshop. There was enough in the bag to do two, maybe three boats, so it was well worthwhile.
But Hairoil seems to be quite inventive. Good on him. From what I see he's done a great job on the top of the keel as well.
You guys seem to be getting on just fine, but when you get to building the radio board you might want to visit the following link. You probably don't need any help, but there are a couple of pics there that may or may not be of use.
Well Folks , we started on the Victor Aussie 11. As you can see from the above photos the deck beams arte in and the Gunnels' are glued as well.
You will notice if you have a close look at the keel, that there is no lead shot in it. We had the devils own job of even finding anywhere where they sell lead shot. So Hairoil got busy with the tin pinking shears and created his own type out of sheet lead !! The keel weighs about 7lb. I also noticed the rudder looks like a Nautic 12 rudder in shape.
I know Hairoil is tickled pink with the out come on this little boat, for he said it is going together quite nicely.
