If people look at my posts over the years, regarding my comments about the ARYA, they will realise that my only beef with the ARYA has always been about a lack of promotion...
Especially for beginners, who may never want to sail competitively... Who may not even know what they may want to sail in the future...
And lack of support for the EC12...
Otherwise, I believe, and have always stated, that if one wants to sail competitively in the internationally recognised classes then the ARYA website is the place to go... I have never criticised them in relation to these international classes...

Not quite sure what you meant with this post, but if Col Durrance has an A2 and is happy to sail with Nautic12's then I would give it all my support!
My only problem is, is that I seem to be the only person in Victoria who has an EC12, an Nautic12, and an A2... and no-one else to sail with, that has any one of these three boats, in Victoria!
That of course means that there are no officialy rercognised measurer's of any of these THREE classes of boats in Victoria...
And, is the basis of my frustrations, regarding the registration of these boats with ANYBODY, over the years, including the ARYA, and never mind the geberal operation of the ARYA about whom I shall not speak further, suffice to say, that they have, along with me, driven other friends of mine away from the competitive side of the sport of model yachting...
To me... ARYA ...R.I.P

You have no idea of how happy I am, to see you actively continuing to sail. It brings a beautiful warmth to my heart.
While your R/C Laser and Marblehead, are a lot lighter than the Nautic12, I hope you are still getting your Nautic in the water often. The Nautic12 and the A2, are my absolute dream boats.
And what a terrible situation we have now, where neither are being manufactured any more.
I never could sail my EC12. When I got it, it leaked like a sieve, and that of course affected my appreciation of it. I have since repaired the hull where it was leaking, right along from the bow to mid astern. But my experience with it was so bad, that I have not had it back in the water again.
But one thing I do know Henry, is that whilst the EC12 is a dog to sail, the Nautic12 is an absolute dream.
You know Henry, what I would dearly love to do? I would dearly love to bring my Nautic12 to Sydney, and to one day, have a sail with you. I know you will kick my ar**, but I don't care. I would just love the opportunity to share a sailing day with you, my friend! Perhaps next summer...

I recently sold one of my Nautic12's, Maverick2, to a fellow in Tasmania.
For the purpose of this post I shall refer to this fellow as "D". Funnily enough, that is the same reference as my own first initial. How about that!
Now.
D took delivery of the boat on or around a Wednesday about three weeks ago. After keeping me in suspense about whether it had arrived in one piece or not I received a call from D on the following Sunday night.
Totally aprehensive, once I knew who was calling, I cautiously listened to what D had to say.
The ensuing conversation revealed that the boat had arrived intact apart from a minor issue with the rudder. Further details revealed were that D was absolutely rapt with the boat, that he had sailed it that day, it had performed beautifully, despite the very calm conditions, and that it had the approval of his peers.
I also got a call the following Sunday. Similar comments about satisfaction with the boat, but this time in windy conditions with gusts up to about 14-16 knots, and again with favourable comments from D's sailing companions. That was last Sunday, the Sunday just gone.
Tonight, the date of this post, I got another call from D. I must confess again to some apprehension, for I now knew who was calling and, after a sh*t day at work today, I suspected the worst. The honeymoon period was over and D was calling to let me know that he was not happy with something.
I could not have been more wrong!
D told me that he was going to put Maverick2 back in the water this coming Sunday and was really looking forward to it.
But, the reason for this post, is that D mentioned that this boat, the Nautic12, Maverick2, has provided him with intense enjoyment and satisfaction, and has made his entry into the radio yachting world, an experience enjoyable beyond belief, or words to that effect.
Whilst I am not averse to stating my opinions on issues, both good and bad, blowing my own trumpet is something I find extremely embarrasing, but in this case, I must publicly state, that D's comments to me, over an extended period, have given me probably the most satisfying comments I have ever heard about my contributions to this sport.
I am deeply indebted to D for the comments he has made to me, and those comments will give me pleasure for many years to come, if not forever.
Thank you D. If you read this, your enthusiasm, your passion, your appreciation of my support, has made my involvement in this sport so very, very, worthwhile. You should not be thanking me mate, I am thanking YOU. So very, very much.
Don
