RE: 10r's

The venue is an international standard Rowing Centre (or eventually will be).

Lots of water & last venue for Nats in WA.

It's hard pressed to get any answers so I can beut assume poor maintenance or lack of proper equipment.

Maybe it's not the fragility of these boats, but the amount of water they need to sail in!

I have a 10-rater that weighs less than an IOM! It rocks! It flies, when the pond is deep enough!

The problem is, is that the pond I sail in, is rarely deep enough to sail it in! :( :(

G'day Guys

Just thought I would give some of you that are really keen on the 10's a chance to post some info.

Now I don't want to be contoversial or nothing but I was wondering why the fleets are so low in numbers at times.

How fragile is the 10r.. I remember 10+ years ago I had one (Jom Bradshaw design BR??) that I sailed at the local pond & it was seriously unbreakable.. NO water got in & the sheetlines would stand up to anything nature threw at them. I know I sailed it in the worst weather.

The question I suppose stems from my recent visit to the WA States last weekend. I only stayed a short while because the fleet was so small. I was told there was 10+ entries, but the afternoon I attended there were maybe 6 at most.

I know it was mid afternoon & the wind was steady but not excessive.

I think I watched 3 races & at one stage there were only 4 boats that finished. I've heard that 13 skippers sailed in the event but not many completed all races.

I hear that less than half finished in more than half the races. It looks like carnage happened inside the fleet.

So the question I suppose is how do you manage to keep the 10's Dry inside, Strong  & still be competitive.   Or Maybe even Finish a Race...
