This is an alert to all AEC12OA members that we have tonight sent out the final draft copies of our new constitution and rule base with an accompanying explanatory note detailing some of the changes.
Please contact me directly or Gary Taylor with any queries.
This message is being sent out to all AEC12OA members that may read this as a reminder that we intend to close the submission period at the end of Friday business this week. The OA executive plan to meet next week to discuss all submitted material from members that refer to the new constitution and iE12 rule base documents that will be put in their final form for voting on by members.
Any member who wishes to be heard on these matters can contact me at straw@focusqld.com or Gary Taylor at harryandjibby@aapt.net.au directly.
Gents, it seems that we are receiving very helpful suggestions from members in respect of the rule base and constitution matters. This is coming back to us very early in the piece which I think is a very healthy sign indeed. We really appreciate this input.
Our committee are not hugely experienced in these areas but at least we managed to present a base point which will no doubt be enhanced and altered and refined until we achieve the final draft. At that point we will seek final approval of these two documents by the members.
On another positive note, I am informed that we appear to have no official objection or stumbling block in front of us in respect of the introduction of a new class. Obviously the new boat will have its genesis here in QLD but I can announce that we have expressions of interest from 7 - 8 buyers for the boat already, and more than half of them are not from QLD, and we have not even advertised yet!! This is most encouraging and we are very excited at the prospect of getting these boats on the water. Gary Taylor is well advanced for the construction process and we will be releasing the price list for the product in due course. As promised we will see to it that the boat will be made available to purchasers at a little over cost price. This boat will not be being produced for commercial purposes but only in the interest of getting a really smart, cost effective one design onto the radio sailing scene. Its a great contemplation!
I believe our long struggle is close to being over and the only regretable aspect of all this is, that we should have adopted this approach, with the idea of a new class 12 months ago! A number of members were urging me to adopt this path but foolishly I thought that we could win over those few misfits that were so mindlessly against the organization of the old EC12 class owners into an owners association, and fought us every step of the way.
Well this outcome is a win for everyone including those that wish to remain with the ARYA controlled EC12 class. We in the OA are now free of all that and they are welcome to whatever the future holds for them. This will be my last reference to the old EC12 class publicly and from this point on I only have eyes for our new IEC12.
Gents just an alert to let those readers here that are members of the AEC12OA that the association has sent out the long awaited "notice to members". If any member has not received this documentation as I write this, please contact me directly and I will see to it that it is rectified.
