Never been one to shriink away from Dictatorial & Narrow Minded Regimes.
Funny thing is I have been the victim of a Cyber Troll following my ever move & post. Silly me used the same password on another OZ Site (now closed).. Some of my posts on sites got edited & some deleted. I know The Spy from WA... So I have had to re-log in under a different ID & change my password to non-arya one, hopefully that will keep The Spy at bay for a while..
I have to say I agree with Straw that the ARYA is not really a supportive organisation. They seem to have a focus on patting the backs of their mates & promotion of cronyism at every opportunity. Has nothing what so ever to do with Promoting the Hobby of Model Yachting within Australia.
Yes it is curious that the State don't realise that they Control the ARYA & should exercise this properly.
You just have to see how WA works with most club delegates here in WA having at least 2 club memberships. One Particular Club in WA has at least 2/3's or more of the Delegates that are members of this club. And on top of that additional exec members are drawn from within the clubs (over & above club delegates) . All these extras have links to the same club... Never a dislosure of a Conflict of Interest. Never a Call for Nomination on the ARYA Executives..
Wonder Why I say WA is the Centre of teh Radio Sailing Universe? Tell me that this is a Democratic Organisation.
Unfortunately I can see a big problem with the Structure in the Future & I think the only way forward will be the inevitable split by either clubs, associations or a State Body.
Maybe a short term pain is needed to move things forward. Clearly Mr Dobbie is not standing again & Mr Bell has intimated likewise. My guess is the WA contingent will fall away. Being from WA I see & hear a lot of what is happening & unfortuantely this means I am expected to tow the Policy Line. Not Likely when it is completely flawed & lacks any Transparency nor vision for the future.
The Only Good Thing I can see is perhaps a New Executive & a constitutional change. Ones that focus the rights of Associations like the EC12, Multihull, MM, Laser & IOM to exists in their own right. If we move to an Association Based organisation then each class gets to progress radio sailing in a positive & co-operative manner.
I think we might see two EC12's develop with the eventual demise of the negative group. A unfortuante situation but may be necessary to find a way to move the class into the modern world & maintain it's international flavour. The only way teh ARYA take any notice is when you do things in spite of their objections and blocking tactics.
I know this from personal experience having established a small group of MM's in WA & outside the RSAWA system. They refused for years to assist so we found a way around the tactics. Only then did the ARYA & Mr Dobbie try to step in & stop it all. He will fail on this one or he can challenge it is the courts if he likes..
My suggestion to Peter & the Supporters of the New Hull & Rules is to move ahead under the Qld State as an Association, Grandfather in all of the Older Boats as you have indicated, sail as an EC12 & let the detractors scream & shout as much as they like. In time they will come to realise that they are howling at nothing.
The ARYA has no power over the State Clubs (Associations are clubs under State Body) so they really have no input. Just ignore them (ARYA Exec) and go about what you do best. Promote the Calss & Radio Sailing in General.

I personally am a persona non grata with the ARYA having been publicly critical of their administration of things like promotion of radio yachting to the masses as well as having fought a running battle with that same national body for a period that must now be approaching 10 years regarding EC12's. Maybe even longer. But my criticism has always been accompanied by a suggestion on what I thought could improve things.
If the person who is the Technical Officer now is that same person who was the Technical Officer those 10 years ago, then I am not surprised at the problems you are experiencing.
I will not make personal attacks, but I will say this. If members of their State Associations are not happy with what is happening, then they must make that point known to their local State committees. Either directly or by petition, or just do not elect those people again when elections are due if they do not put forward their member's views to the rest of the ARYA committees they are on.
But my experience is, is that most member's are scared of the ARYA, and are not prepared to publicly voice their opinions. They will publicly go along with anything and everything the ARYA proposes, but then then these cowards will knock the ARYA in private. While a culture like this exists, then there will never be any change. For if change is ro happen, something needs to be done differently!
If something is done the way it always has been, if peoples' attitudes are the same as they always have been, and if the same people keep getting elected to the same committee positions, then it is unreasonable to expect anything to change!
Sorry about this, but my personal opinion is that until a clean sweep is made of all positions within both State and National bodies, nothing will ever change, and we will just keep seeing a continuing decline in people who participate in this sport!
Until it dies out completely, and the only time a member of a new generation might become interested in the sport would be if he or she, would see an occassional private hobbyist sailing a beautiful yacht on a beautiful stretch of water on a beautiful sunny day with just enough wind to move that yacht along at quite spectacular speeds!
And when this person would ask 'how do I get into this hobby? Where can I buy boats, where can I get help and advice?' and the hapless enthusiast would have to say, 'I don't know'...

I am posting here in order to alert all those who contributed via the AEC12OA towards the procurement of a new American Standard Master mould, that yesterday I attended the Patricks Logistics facility in Port of Brisbane and collected the item which is now safely ensconsed here in QLD.
Thank you all for assisting with this project which unfortunately appears to be "still born" due to the intransigence of those few miserable souls in NSW who deliberately set out to derail this project and the rank incompetence of the Australian National Authority. What a pathetic bunch that you are!
The ship has arrived in Brisbane carrying the New USA mould. The shipment will now follow the Aust. Customs process before being released to the AEC12OA.
As stated in a number of previous posts, the future use of the mould will depend on the ARYA process of approval. Following previous discussion between the AEC12OA and the ARYA Technical officer, the ARYA T.O. has indicated there may be some issue as it may not comply with Australian (ARYA) approved EC 12 Rules.
Should accreditation not be approved, this would be a heart-wrenching travisty for the AEC12OA and the EC12 community in general. The personal impact on Peter Morris will be immence, Peter has been the FIRST in more years than I can remember, who has taken the duties as NCC by the throat and produced an innovative plan for the class to grow ob both a National and Internation front.
To this day, I fail to comprehend why the ARYA and those opposed to his vision would not instigate meetings to iron out any concerns and move forward????????
The Australian East Coast 12 Owners Association (AEC12OA) membership has purchased a new EC12 Mould from the American Master Plug. This is being transported by sea to Australia at this time with arrival anticipated late June or July 2011.
At this juncture it's important to consider the outcome of deliberations between the AEC12OA and the ARYA, as this will have significant influence of the future of the AEC12OA and the new mould.
Secondly, the mould has to be presented to the ARYA Technical Officer for accreitation and acceptance.
Should these processes receive the green light, new hulls will be available across Australia. AEC12OA President has indicated the boats will be available and built to any stage the owner wishes, cost will reflect owner requirements. Basic hull only will be kept to a minimum.
Subject to ARYA approval, the future of the EC12 Class in Australia is innovative, progressive and ensures future generations will have a solid bases to continue with.
For those of us who have the current Australian produced EC12's, please don't listen to rumors you will not be able to sail your boat once the new EC12's are produced,,,,, this is a distortion of the original intent. Your current boat will be still around long after we're gone and still be sailing somewhere in Australia. I have hull production number 11 (Aero Mini Marine) and #50 (Mini Mariner), they're alread ancient but both will be still sailing long after I've left the planet!
I will continue reports on the progress of this topic as information becomes available from the AEC12OA.
Seems to me that the EC12's are going to be around for a long long time to come.
It would maybe be cool if someone who is closer to the scene than I, to maybe provide an update on what is happening with hulls/registrations/manufacturers/etc., so that this class can be promoted.
But wait. There is more.
Seems that the next major advance after the EC12 form as we know it, with the rudder an appendage to the keel itself, was the shifting of the rudder away from the keel and towards the rear of the hull. This first happened on the US boat Intrepid, as advanced and radical in its day, as was Australia II in 1983.
Now, and this is way out, maybe an act of heresy, but what if one was to modify an EC12 hull to produce an "Intrepid"?
What would this do to radio yachting?
Comments appreciated.
