When it all comes down to it, I don't think I could ever, no matter how tempting in some wild moments, to destroy or significantly modify a piece of model radio yachting history.
When I look at my EC12 as it sits my study, I cannot but help look upon it as a beautiful work of art.
And as I am not able to create such a work of art myself, I certainly do not have the right to destroy, or even alter it.
So it will remain as it is.

This is something I have been thinking about for quite some time. And my proposed plan of action might be considered sacrilege or maybe even heresy.
I am unable to get my EC12 registered without huge expense and effort despite attempts to do so over the last 3-4 years. Nobody seems even to be aware of a "Roy Silks" hull whose ancient label is affixed to the inside of my beautiful boat.
So what I have decided to do, is to convert my beautiful EC12 to a reasonable facsimile of "Intrepid", the USA boat that was the first revolution in 12-meter design for decades, by way of cutting down the existing rudder in my boat to trim tab size, and then fitting an additional balanced rudder towards the back of the hull, roughly in scale proportions.
And then I wil test sail her. If my hunch is correct this will make my ancient EC12 into the most perfect radio sailing model for this day and age when so many sailing waterways are if not weed infested, then with greatly reduced depth of water.
I was going to use a brand new hull to do this, (sorry Ian - and it was even the right colour), but as there is no possibility of my own EC12 ever being registered at reasonable cost, I have decided to do the above. This has not been a decision taken lightly, as I personally have an almost obsessive desire, or need, to see historical things as they really were. Untouched, unimproved to cater for current and fickle markets, and/or to be used as a tourist attraction, etc.
But as I see my EC12 unable to be registered, I can fulfill at least another fantasy. To create a 1983 "Liberty" equivalent to sail againgst my A2.
Should I be drawn and quartered for doing this, or is there an interest from the 12-metre radio yachting community as to maybe the development of something new to promote radio yachting?
