Maverick. I think they are a bit stunned , for nothing like this has happened before. I will be very suprised if the Coordinator response to you but I live in hope!
I think that we should at this stage view it as a service that we can give them, an insight into the Beaut 12 metre boats they choose to race/ sail. If we get them more enthusiastic, well that's one to the home team.
As you know 12 metre boats have a special thing in Australian lives for the way they handled the racing in 83', they showed the world what we are about and I think we should celebrate that fact. Long live AUSTRALIA.
Maybe everyone's continuing the well and long established tradition of keeping everything to do with 12M's secret.
Or maybe the new folks are working on something to do with promoting the 12s in this country. Hope so, especially now that all the 12's have Rating Rules, including the EC12.

But I might add, that I have already established a page attached to the Australian 12-Metre Radio Yacht Group page where anyone interested will be able to read the basic rules. I haven't put it up online yet, but it will be there within the next couple of days.
Hey, how about a positive comment from the new coordinator, especially as the President of the ARYA has effectively said on their own EC12 forum, to shut up and sail? It we can't talk about EC12 issues there, we might as well do it here.

Well Maverick , we should make a couple of things clear here. One of the most wanted things it a silent page on you Website , where there will be no Forum for announcements only and our newsletter. Where long standing information can be put . And then if you want a forum, well you already cater for this in those forums already okay.
We also want to make clear that there is a Steering Committee or 3 people doing the "AUST. 12 Metre Group (our new name) .No entry fee will be charged, as we will use other means to tell the story.
With a steering committee they keep changing things to get it all going, so every thing slots in. We have changed the Name somewhat and changed to format as well so that we are not doing anything in actual regattas or stuff like that. We are going to concerntrate on the things we want the Australian 12 Metre Group, owners to know. All of these owners, not just the ones that have a say in the national body. How will we accomplish that. Stay tuned.
Hopefully we will post newsletters on this special page we asking for with DON'S web page. There are a few pluses working here for Don is a whizz with computors and stuff.
Estaticly cutting my throat!!!! But no Maverick This is one of the times I congratulate you on your freedoms to get things done.
We(you & I) are interested in 12 metres in general and want to see more of it happen .... on the water. One of the guys I have been talking to .... a Ec12 owner to be exact, said to me it will be fine if it helps to get more 12 metre boats on the water. This is the judge of what you're trying to accomplish. Well out of the mouths of babes!!
I know in our club that the NAUTICS are going on the water but we are in an association and I always thought that associations were about helping everyone in that association, whatever class, am I wrong in thinking this (I'm not talking about the owners association here)?
I must say Mav . this all came about while I was trying to measure a couple of EC12s that a friend was / is asking me to measure. Now I can tell you , he was stretching our friendship no end asking for this favour after me asking him to bugger off to the EC12 club to get it done. Well I asked around with no joy at all . It seemed nobody and I mean nobody had any Idea on how I was to accomplish this deed for as you know there was no anything and all the usual channels didn't know either . So I started ringing the blokes involved namely the chiefs .... drew another blank. So I guess when you get into this situation you just start to rattle cages as the final thing , well , it worked 4 days later EC12 rules and measurement forms "just appeared". i'll let you work out if there are any morals here???
I'm advising that an Australian 12-Metre Owners' Association page has been set up on the d'12metre radio yacht website where announcements will be made, and to complement this discussion forum, at least at this stage.
Spelling corrected.

Below is a communication received yesterday about the formation of an Australian 12-Metre Owners' Association.
All the parts of this communication have been published to provide the best background. I do have permission to publish all parts including the email.
I must confess I was gobsmacked when this email was received as I had drafted an editorial for publication on the d'12metre website, but I hadn't had a chance to post it. Perhaps I may publish it soon.
In the meantime I publish the communication received hereunder:
The email: ________________________________________________________________ Thank you DON, Well the day arrived . I had a meeting with leigh Groves to- day at our sailing venue, Scarborough Park . We soon found out we had certain commonground on which to work. We both agreed that we should in fact be on a rescue mission pertaining to EC12s and ALL the other 12 metre classes in Australia (like you have been aspousing for centuries). Anyway the up shot of the discussion centred around what we could do to save what there is left of the class , as you say RIGHT NOW. Well right now ,,, today we formed the AUSTRALIAN 12metre OWNERS ASSOCIATION with an influx of $10.00 each to start it off . So we are now in existance, you could say About time too. We envizage that we will work for 12 metre owners in their quest to fulfill their needs and eventually net work with other to get12metres' voice heard. See attached. I wonder if you could put both pages attached of a special page on your forum,Not the EC12 page both quite apart so all the 12s are included after all we don't want it to be a secret.... do we? Regards Steve ______________________________________________________________ Document 1:
Australian 12 metre Owners Association. 13/3/08 ( Part 1) There has been some thoughts about forming a 12 metre Owners Association. There are over 4 X12metre classes of these types yachts racing in Australia today. Only one of these types are actually covered in any way by the National Organization in regards to rules and ratings. All these other types of 12 metre boats have similar needs to the one that is named by the National Body.
What is proposed is an Owners Organization to cater for all these 12 metre type exclusively, for it has become apparent that the National organization cant do this job effectually, for it has all the other classes to run. How will this organization run? It is envisaged that each of the 12 metre types will have their own class identity within the Owners Association. That we, as a group will have more strength (as a group) to formulate our special 12 metre needs as a combined organization, instead of doing similar things with each type of 12 metre over and over again in regard to rules, rating certificates and all the other type of stuff associate with your type of boat.
That we work together to push the needs for our special 12 metre type boats and, perhaps, combine in our approach to see we get a fair shake in our quest in R/C sailing. Our amalgamation of all 12 metre classes under the one roof and that each class will run its own affairs in conjunction with other like boats and under the united umbrella of the "AUSTRALIAN 12 Metre OWNERS ASSOCIATION". If you think you would like to participate in this, contact your class/ club secretary for more information. Australian 12 metre Owners Association.(Part 2) This Part is about putting these thoughts into practice. How do we get into an Owners Association as a Class? All Classes are made up of individual skippers & owners. These only have to show they are interested in this Association. Pay a nominal fee to join other like minded people who sail their12 metre class. This collection of people form one of these Owners Classes.Other people with similar types of 12 metre boats but not the same as the first ones mentioned, get together to form their Owners Classes Etc , Etc.Now the funding of the Owners Association in this case will be by the people who wish to join but the money collected will be spent on getting the stuff that is denied to you currently. This could be spent on a monthly newsletter, rating rules & measuring certs and stuff like that. As the membership grows, youre standing as a class grows, till the time where you can run your own Australian 12 metre Owners Association National Championships. The 12 metre National Championships will consist of 4 types of 12 metre classes in separate events. Going to an Owners Association like this, the work and money is going towards making your hobby better and easier for you. Other countries like America and New Zealand have these Owners Associations and they work fine and dont go through what the EC12 class in this country is going through. We have seen the fiasco of the last 4 years of the Rules Rewrite that has taken place with the EC12 class. You know there must be a better way and there is and this is an Owners Association controlled by people who know and are interested in your boat. You dont have to leave your current national body to join the Australian 12 metre Owners Association. Now I want you to consider a scenario under the current condition of the EC12 rule. What if you as a class want to change one little item in your rule, would it take another 4 years? In an Owners Association it should take about a month. Food for thought. I ask you to consider joining us to further your class in all its aspects. ______________________________________________________________
