And just as a further aside, what records are available, as to who the underwriter is, as to when a claim was last made, by whom, the circumstances, and what the outcome was!
Far be it from me to suggest this, but unless this information is made available, how can the cost of the premium be justified, and how do we, anybody, know that there have been no false claims made against this policy, by ...errrr persons who may have a vested interest in paying this exorbitant premium.

A timely opportunity to bring to the fore the single most important issue confronting Radio Sailors in general.
Simply put the ARYA as a system has really no importance to the Grass Root Sailors & all we want to do is sail our boats quietly & unencumbered by the politics of the sport.
My most recent experiences would bear out that the majority of sailors including Club Delegates have LITERALLY NO IDEA of what the Insurance Policy actually covers.
At a recent Club AGM a Delegate on RSAWA advised that to the best of his knowledge teh Insurance Policy ONLY COVERED 3rd Party PLI.
Noting more & member to member was not covered nor was anything to do with injury to anybody other than the 3rd Party (no involved in the hobby).
Now that would normally be an accepted outcome except...
Insurance Policy Claims KD ARYA Secretary: Radio Waves July-Oct 2011
Due to some misleading and mischievous statements made regarding the scope and adequacy of ARYAs public liability insurance the following information is provided for the information of mem-bers. The scope of cover was determined by myself and the then ARYA President, Greg Willis in consultation with an insur-ance brokerage company. The broker recommended a level of cover that was accepted by the ARYA Executive as ap-propriate to our needs. The policy provides cover for ARYA, its affiliates and associated clubs against claims for personal injury or property damage that is caused by an occurrence in connection with our activities. Cover-ageincludes participation and member to member cover, which is where an injured member takes an action against another member, who allegedly caused the injury whilst they were actively par-ticipating in an event. Accepting the disclaimer on the standard ARYA entry form does not prevent a member from making a personal injury claim. The limit of liability is $20M and an ex-cess of $1500 inclusive of costs applies. ARYA will accept liability for the excess. The current policy is underwritten by Lloyds of London.Ken Dobbie National Secretary
Now that the statements have been published by Ken Dobbie in his capacity as ARYA Secretary surely then this information & detailed knowledge of Coverage would have been passed to each State Council for passing to Delegates & Members.. In fact it is a requirement under law where a disclaimer/Waiver/Indemnity is required to be signed.
I would therefore question the coverage statement by KD as clearly the State Delegates are unsure of the coverage & are specific in stating that Participation & Member to Member Coverage is not a part of the policy.
So can anybody actually list in simple terms what the Insurance Policy actually covers & include a number of examples so that there can be absolutely no confusion.
$8,000pa & we doin't have a clue what the Policy actuually Covers. Pretty Poor Admionistration that cannot provide complete & honest information to its' own delegates..
policy provides cover for ARYA, its affiliates and associated clubs against claims for personal injury or property damage that is caused by an occurrence in connection with our activities. Cover-ageincludes participation and member to member cover
Participation & Personal Injury & Property Damage & Member to Member.. All in connection with the Activity of Radio Sailing.
So what we have all been lead to believe is actually completely Fasle if we accept the summary supplied by Mr Dobbie...
No wonder Mr Dobbie closed the ARYA Forum & refuses to provide for detailed information on the Insurance Policy Coverage..
